COMMON QUESTIONS
WHAT KINDS OF ACTIVITIES DOES THE COLLECTIVE OFFER?
The Collective bases all activities on the kids and families who join us. We concentrate on hands-on, fun learning opportunities like classes, clubs, field trips, and special events. We're always a work in progress! Join us and shape what the Collective looks like this year.
AT WHAT AGE CAN KIDS JOIN?
To join the Collective, at least one child in the homeschooling family must be school-age (5+). Younger siblings are welcome.
WHAT DOES IT COST TO JOIN?
The Collective offers two membership options:
1. Co-op membership for one school year is $75 per child. We meet weekly on Thursdays during the school year.
2. Field trip and special events only membership is $25 per family. We offer at least one field trip or special event each active month.
Certain classes and activities may have additional fees, or families may be asked donate supplies. Membership fees cover liability insurance, building rental, some supply and event costs, and website hosting.
HOW ARE PARENTS INVOLVED?
The Collective does not offer a drop-off program. We are a 100% volunteer-led group. Parents stay on-site and facilitate activities in teams, plan our field trips and special events, and run our nonprofit organization. We welcome ideas from our member families for the activities we offer each session. We truly want to make our group special collectively.
MAY PUBLIC SCHOOL AT HOME STUDENTS JOIN?
The Collective encourages every family to find the educational path that works for their children. But the Collective exists specifically to serve traditionally homeschooled students. We are unable to accept registrations for families whose children are enrolled in public school at home programs like OHVA or K12.
HOW DOES THE COLLECTIVE HANDLE ILLNESS?
We are a COVID-conscious group. Vaccination is STRONGLY encouraged for all eligible participants. Masks are optional (but fully supported for those who choose to wear them) for all activities. The Collective will make changes to these guidelines as needed. As a pro-science group, the Collective supports the role of vaccination in keeping our community healthy.
